My week has picked up!!

I am soo excited to get back on the computer..i have been so busy resting from my weekend in Reno...that I almost missed my newest award!!!!! Clover the cutie pug( i know, us frenchies are supposed to hate pugs 'cause we always get called pugs--but I have a warm spot for my fellow flat nosed canine's--and well--she's super duper cute) awarded me a "Rockin Dog Blogger Award"-- I can't believe it!! YEAH!!!!!

So now I get the esteemed pleasure of giving this award to 5 other deserving doggs...Kassi, Tadpole & Fig, Marvin, and last but not least Bentley & Niko. My mom is still trying to work on the photos from our mini vacation in Reno-- hopefully I will be able to post by this weekend. Peace out my doggs

Oscar the Airedale....

Well, we have lost another friend...Oscar, who was my first new friend in the blogging world-- died this morning unexpectedly. We were soo sad to hear such a young pup was taken from us too early. Our hearts go out to his family.

I had originally wanted to post about my weekend so far-- but i am going to end this post with only thoughts of Oscar.
  • I loved his fancy cowboy outfit-- it was bootylicious
  • I thought he was super smart with all his official certificates
  • He had a great smile
  • He was always having fun
  • His parents and family loved him greatly

Oscar you will be missed

Discrimination and Doggs

In light of all the Michael Vick attention, I thought I would post some information. Nanook and Pooka's mom wrote a great blog entry about her boycott of Nike, for not dropping their endorsement and some of the places we could go to sign petitions surrounding dog fighting etc.

I thought I would call attention ( bee..i mean...see picture above) to a site to is trying to do his part to show what smart, sweet and intelligent dog's Pit Bulls are. I know first hand how great they can be if raised with the same love and affection provided by responsible caring owners, pit bull or not. The stereotype of a viscous pit bull is unwarranted--but will continue as long as we have certain individuals trying to compensate for their small P#ni$#$. But I digress..

There is a great movement to help pit bulls. http://www.lawdogsusa.org/home.html is an organization that provides law enforcement with Pit bulls that have been trained in narcotics and explosives detection.

I thought this was a great site-- one that had pit bulls on the right side of the law and helping break people's perceptions and 'racial profiling' of such a great breed. They comment that this breed is selected because :

"we prefer and specialize in the American pit bull due to their superior work ethic, trustworthy nature and ability. We work with malinois, German shepherds and others and we find no breed matches the American pit bull for stability, human friendliness, work drive and most importantly, their record in the field".

It is sad to think what will happen with the dogs rescued from Vick's house. Reality is, the dogs were trained to kill and do not know any better. They only wanted to please their owner and this is how they were taught--to fight other dogs. These poor dogs-- were probably never shown love and affection like we show our dogs and they will end up paying with their lives because of some human, waste-of-space degenerate... who deserves to suffer like these poor dogs have. I know.. the media has done it''s part in sensationalizing 'pit bull bites'- i mean would 'dog bites ' make as much of a brouhaha. Nope.

I visited a shelter years back and when I went to the Quarantined section (reserved for the 'biters' or aggressive dogs)-- it wasn't filled with pit bulls-- it have ever breed from shar pei's to even a grey hound-- and yes there was a pit in there too but out of 30 dogs there were 2- a female that was pregnant-- that had snipped at someone who got to close to her ( i imagine she isn't the first prego dog to get agitated)-- she had her puppies in the shelter-- so she would be euthanized along with all of her puppies. YES-- because they were killing the mom-- the puppies would not survive they told me- I begged and pleaded to take on all the pups and even the mom if they would let me --I got no where -- no one cared they killing all these poor innocent dogs..it was the rules and they were pit bulls. Sad.

Ok, I am sure I have ranted loooongg enough and Bernard seems to be getting upset...responsible, loving pet owners dont create aggressive dogs ---
PS--Bernard here--I added the picture to do my part in bringing this to your attention--I have humilated my self to the world for this cause :)

Hi from BernizzleLand!
Here is the long anticipated video--need I say more :) I think with this latest edition we need to have a 'Bernard Channel'? What do you guys think? This video was taken in 1 take--i did almost 1/2 mile. There is more footage my mom couldn't add-- otherwise you guys would be here forever.

We have created a monster!!

Note: this is from Bernard's mom

Well, we have created a monster. We have had the treadmill less than a week and Bernard is addicted. I did not think it was possible but Bernard is addicted to the treadmill. If I go into the office and turn it on, he jumps on and waits for me to start it 'rolling'. He has learned to maintain a pretty good clip. It was quite cute watching him over the last couple days. However--today when I tried to get on to run (hey, I do need to get more use outta this thing than my dog)-- he jumped on and was angry I was on there with him. He started biting at me-- so i jumped off-- and he just went--went for almost 1/2 mile. Any time i tried jumping on, he got angry. Then I turned up the speed enough he had to pay attention and concentrate--and he trotted right next to me. However, I really needed to run, and that would be waaaay to fast for him. Now imagine --I had to put him in his crate--where he CRIED LOUDLY and was beside himself. Can I really have a dog that's obsessed? He was hysterical the entire time i was on there-- which mind you wasn't that long--I only did 2 miles for Pete's sake. I now have to figure out how I am going to use my own treadmill and not have an upset dog, lol.

--

So here is my unveiling of my new toy from Ruby. Isn't my new frog handsome!!He is my new friend and I have to bring him everywhere i go in the house! So far he seems pretty indestructible and should be an eternal living frog--unlike the ones i kill in the backyard during 'Frog Hunting' hours--he he.
So, as my mom mentioned above I am obsessed with her new treadmill. I have her working on a n updated video-- showing off my expert skills I have acquired in the last week!

Stay tuned!!!!!

My weekend of trivial feats

Well this week has been rather uneventful. There was one big purchase--seems my mom wanted to rearange some furniture and HAD to buy this really big ugly thing--a Treadmill--not sure why, I can't sit on it, it dwarfs the desk in the office and just IS NOT attractive. My mom says it will be even less attractive if she doesn's start using this thing. Despite how ugly it is, it seems pretty cool. It has a TV and a fan built right in!!! Apparently my mom has excuses for

not going to the gym--'It's too far'

not going running outside--'It's too hot'

not going to our clubhouse--'It's too stuffy, with not enough fans'

This seems as if she will no longer have any excuses...Here is a little peak at the new 'Beast'--oh and check this out :)

My parents thought it would be cute to get me on this thing...so here is the breaking footage of my virgin feet on this treadmill!!

I am not sure why they were so excited.

Other than that, my dad had a big race in Lafayette--but lost steam with 2 laps to go, so he didn't place and finished with the pack. There were lots of cute pups there. Too bad it was to hot for my parents to bring me-- but they did give me the full run down. I stayed home in the A/C with my NEW favorite toy--Ruby and her mommie gave me the greatest toy ever. I bring it everywhere and chew on it for hours at a time. I am sure you all want to see what it is..can you guess what it might be? At first I thought WTF? It's soooo much bigger than what I am used to catching! Can you guess?? Ok, I won't keep you in suspense-- I unvail my newest always living--Green Frog--in tomorrow's blog-- stay tuned

Some very sad news i have had a hard time reporting on...if you haven't been on the FBRN site or on Balboa's Site--Churchill has lost his brave battle. He has joined Scubee in the freedom from pain and suffering and they now have the great memories of the ones who loved them to surround them.

Now I get to give this AWARD to 5 other boy bloggers who ROCK!!!! In no particular order

Non DOGG Recomended Site

So my mom is hijacking my blog and forcing me to tell you about something. If you are into music and like to check out something new---

She wants me to tell you about this great site called http://www.sellaband.com/-- It 's this site where you listen to unsigned bands-- and buy 'parts' if you like them. When they have enough people backing them ( 5,000 parts total @$10 a part) They get the $50k to record a cd w/ professional contract and everything. The best part, if you believe in an artist and they reach their goal..you get residuals from every CD the artist sells, 2 dollars will be allocated to the Believers for every CD. The artist can set the price as high or low as they feel fit. SellaBand gets nothing from these sales. Also, SellaBand will sell the Regular version on its own website and through online partners and offline distribution. Of these sales, the net revenue will be split equally between the artist, your Believers and SellaBand. You also get money from advertising and such.

That being said, my mom believed in this guy named Jake-- called Cubworld-- my mom says he reminds her of Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson and Sublime combined. They just had the webcast listening party--my mom says it was soo endearing to see him/his family, and be able to send IMs during the webcast. She loves his voice and wants everyone to listen to him. She says this is how you break past the sugar coated 'American Idol' Machine-- and find real talent. Is she saying Chris Daughtry or Kelly Clarkson aren't real. Well ,she does like Chris-- but she is telling me he was the exception.

K, In honor of the Tour, I leave you all with a great picture my dad found ; )

Bernard is out!!!

Today starts the Tour my doggs!!!!

So.... there is much excitement in the house today. The Tour de France has started. This means our channel is locked on VS channel-- and each stage of the day is on a loop--24 hours a day (and recorded)---believe me, if you didn't like cycling-- having it force fed like this makes you like it. There is no escape. Except---- when dads gone : ) It used to be dad picked Floyd and mom Levi--but I guess dad needs a new rider. Seems this year he is pulling for "The Green Bullet"(Alejandro Valverde) and mom is stickin with Levi.
I am sure my other dog friends Cipo, Dash, Bella, and Batman are also all excitedly watching. These are my cycling friends--my dads team mates doggies-- who are at the races too. Here we are at Conquer the Canyons-- in the team motorhome.

As you can see, they are all great looking Italian Greyhounds--and Cipo is named after Italian Cyclist Mario Cippolini. I could get a fat complex being around all of these skinny hyperactive pups--but I am secure-- I know I am built for power not speed. I tried to hump them and I noticed I could crush their little bones if I was too rough-- who wants to be built so fragile? It has been a while since I have seen them and I can't wait to see them again. I am hoping maybe they will start blogging to-- I know, I know-- we haven't been doing this very long-- and mom wasn't letting me post as much as I wanted to because of that evil PS3-- but we've crossed that bridge-- and every dogg has been so great on here!!!

Which reminds me-- I met a new doggie that is the CUTEST and she is new to blogging. Her name is Kassi. Isn't she adorable-- and it seems her mom is as crafty as Ruby's mommie. Please go and say hi and make her as welcome as you guys made me!!!! I know she would love some attention : )

Oh and I want to thank Balboa, Ruby and my human auntie Leslie-- for donating to FBRN and helping Churchill!!!! We love guys for helping and YOU ROCK!!!!

Bye for now--
Bernard

My 4th--sort of

So my 4th of July went as planned---no drama---helped by my staying inside and cool, free from flying bees!!BZZZZZZZ

My parents hung out with me in the morning--then they were off to an annual Crit in Davis. See, my dad is a cyclist--and he loves to race. However, since he thinks he is past his prime in the cycling world-- he has been racing in Masters 35+ as a Cat 1/2. He is a great sprinter and lives for riding---believe me when i tell you he just did ride on Sunday--get this-- almost 110 miles and climbing over 11,000 feet--He races for a team out of Vegas called 'Paul Tracy Racing'-- their main sponsor is-- you guessed it the Indy 500 racing guy Paul Tracy . However, since we are in Nor Cal-- dad has to race by himself sometimes.
Here is dad, second one from the front, in this picture from the race yesterday. And here is is riding behind Michael Hernandez-- who is a former State Crit Champion!! So the competition is steep. And here he is after riding for 50 minutes in 105 degrees : ) You might be asking-- what does my mom do during this?? Well, she helps my dad make his bottles (water), pin his numbers on his kit (the sexy tight speedo thing), cheer on dad and this time around, hold onto her sunglasses-- it was so hot they wouldn't stay on. Oh, and since there was a Starbucks close by-- she sipped on a Soy Vanilla Latte on ice-- while dad sweated to death. And she is the resident photographer-- she needs a lot more practice on her timing to outsmart the digital camera : ) She really tried to get some good pics. Guess this is a good segway to tell those who are unfamiliar with cycling--I am named after a famous French cyclist, Bernard Hinault, who won the Tour de France among other great famous races. Good thing they named me after such a great man!
I also started a donation for Churchill at French Bulldog Rescue Network please take a minute to read about his story, and try not to cry too much...my mommie says the donations are tax deductible (i guess that is good) and it will make the world a better place helping others. Select the Donate button at the top of my blog : ) Any little bit will help him out. In my first 24 hours I have 2 donations (thanks mom for my first one). Make sure to name him in your donation.

Take care my doggs-

Bernard

Happy 4th my DOGGS!!!

Happy 4th!!! Thought I would share a pic of my greatgrandfather--it seemed like a patriotic picture for today.

Also, for those who don't know-- this 4th is destined to be better than last years. Let me start by saying to my mom and dad "I'm Sorry". Ok..let me begin. The 4th started off great, my parents had some friends over (finally!) we were hangin out--drinks and treaties--when I spotted something moving out of the corner of my eye. My mom freaked out because it was a bee. But, my dad thought it was funny and told my mom she was turning me into a momma's boy--wwhatever--and next thing you know, I have a stinger in my lip!! One our friends, Josh (Kona's co-owner) is a fireman, so he knew how to get it out. Well, lets just say my lip swelled horribly-- and then i started throwing up and couldn't stand. Mind you , this is all within 30 seconds. So my mom called the Emergency Vet place and we jumped in the car. My dad drove fast-- 125 mph-- just to get me there. I layed on my moms lap---my tongue blue, lip huge, and hardly breathing. The drive seemed forever. We get there and they rush me in the back. I got a shot, hooked up to oxygen and lots of oogles from the nurses. Seems I went into Anaphylactic Shock and am DEATHLY allergic to bees. An hour later, I was allowed to see my parents and have them fork over the cash (isn't it great that way : ) so I could be released from the nurses. We drove home much slower- and came home to our house guests still there-- having eaten dinner-- waiting for us! I know it was a bit hard on my parents so i have really tried to stay away from bees. Since then I have found out wasps are my enemy as well, and when I get in a fight with them-- I have to take a Benedryl.

So this year should hopefully less stressful. Enjoy your 4th and be careful!!!
