Happy 4th my DOGGS!!!

Happy 4th!!! Thought I would share a pic of my greatgrandfather--it seemed like a patriotic picture for today.

Also, for those who don't know-- this 4th is destined to be better than last years. Let me start by saying to my mom and dad "I'm Sorry". Ok..let me begin. The 4th started off great, my parents had some friends over (finally!) we were hangin out--drinks and treaties--when I spotted something moving out of the corner of my eye. My mom freaked out because it was a bee. But, my dad thought it was funny and told my mom she was turning me into a momma's boy--wwhatever--and next thing you know, I have a stinger in my lip!! One our friends, Josh (Kona's co-owner) is a fireman, so he knew how to get it out. Well, lets just say my lip swelled horribly-- and then i started throwing up and couldn't stand. Mind you , this is all within 30 seconds. So my mom called the Emergency Vet place and we jumped in the car. My dad drove fast-- 125 mph-- just to get me there. I layed on my moms lap---my tongue blue, lip huge, and hardly breathing. The drive seemed forever. We get there and they rush me in the back. I got a shot, hooked up to oxygen and lots of oogles from the nurses. Seems I went into Anaphylactic Shock and am DEATHLY allergic to bees. An hour later, I was allowed to see my parents and have them fork over the cash (isn't it great that way : ) so I could be released from the nurses. We drove home much slower- and came home to our house guests still there-- having eaten dinner-- waiting for us! I know it was a bit hard on my parents so i have really tried to stay away from bees. Since then I have found out wasps are my enemy as well, and when I get in a fight with them-- I have to take a Benedryl.

So this year should hopefully less stressful. Enjoy your 4th and be careful!!!

G'day Bernard,

That's a great photo! Happy 4th! I'm sowy about your bee sting - I stepped on a bee when I was 2 months old & let out such a scweam! My mum took the stinger out and wrapped my foot in an ice pack & cuddled me till I felt better.

Thanks for signing my guestbook and linking to me - I'll link to you too!

OH NO Bernard

How scary for you, mommy, and daddy. I think my mommy would have been crying the whole time. I got stung once before too, but not on my mouth, you are so lucky daddy is such a fast driver.

I'm glad you are feeling better.

Hey Bernard...
I remember when you were sick last year. It was really scawie and it made my Mom scared too so we avoid bees all the time now!

Hi, Bernard.
I am sure that was very scary! Sure your mom and dad's reaction was fast enough to take you to the vets to help you!
Lets hope this year will be a different story.

I've looked at those sort of things and usually leave them alone.

I have a snap at flies tho'.

Maybe that would be a cool course of action for you.

Hope you had a more relaxing 4 July this year.

I'm a momma's boy and have never had to go to the emergency vet - so tell that to your dad! Although I HAVE managed to spend thousands upon thousands of my girl's money at our regular vet'narin... I think she's very thankful I've kept her from becoming a materialistic snob.

Whoa Bernies,

You are sooo luckys! And I guess your vet doctor too, cuz he/she got all your humans' monies.

I reeeallys don't chase stingers or buzzers but my friend, Tule, goes afters them. So fars she hasn't been stingered.

Our humans' parents and uncles and aunts and stuff certainlys sacrificed a lots. And now others are sacrificin'.

Wuufs!

Bernard!

Glad you made it through to another 4th of July, man! That must have been scary last year. My girl is also allergic to bee & wasp stings. She hasn't had Anaphylactic Shock yet, but the last time she was stung her whole arm swelled up to about 4 times its normal size. (She looked like a freak!) All that to say, you've got lots of sympathy here.

Cool photo of your great-great-grandpa! My great-great-grandpa served in WWI (yep, my girl must be OLD). She still has his old army foot locker. I think I'd rather have a photo like the one you have.

Goober love,
Stanley
